Conditions of entry

Art.1

“Educ-Arte” an International Painting Competition for Schools, now in its 18th year, will take place during GEF’s  final stages  in Sanremo.

Theme: “Plastic against the sea …”

 

Art.2

Entry is open to public and legally registered private schools, both from Italy and other countries, at any level, including Art schools and “Licei Artistici” (secondary schools specializing in figurative arts) .

The competition has 3 categories:

A – Primary Schools

B – Lower Secondary Schools

C – Upper Secondary Schools

Art.3

The theme is  “Plastic against the sea …”

Canvases must measure 1X1 metres.

Acrylic colours must be used.

Each school can submit up to 3 paintings by their students.

Only canvases measuring 1X1 metres and painted with acrylic colours will be accepted.

 

Art.4

Participants in the A/B/C sections must forward their work for selection.

Works must be accompanied by a completed registration form.

There is no registration fee.

All the relevant details must also appear on the back of paintings submitted.

All participants must be enrolled in the school, which has registered for the competition.

 

Art.5

Each school must submit the enclosed completed entry form and send the requested materials to “Educ-Arte”  GEF – Via Roma 166 – 18038 Sanremo – Italy, within the 28th of February 2019, including:

  • Name of school.
  • A list of the students enrolled in the schools that are taking part in the project.
  • Title of the piece of work submitted.
  • Works
  • Proof of payment of a “school’s deposit as a guarantee for expenses” € 250,00.
    a) The deposit will be deducted from the total amount to pay for the school’s accommodation in Sanremo
    b) the deposit will be reimbursed to schools not admitted to the finals in Sanremo.

“The School’s deposit as a guarantee for expenses “will be retained only if the school decide to cancel their participation.

Attention:

A School participating in more than one competition in GEF can pay one “ school’s deposit as a guarantee for expenses”, and not one deposit for each competition.

Art.6

All entrants will be notified about the selection of works by March 11, 2019. These will be exhibited in Sanremo during GEF’s final stages.

The schools must confirm in writing, by a registered letter or by mail by March 21, 2019. enclosing a,b, (formes received with our confirm):

  1. the hotel accommodation form filled in with proof of payment for the whole stay of the school;
  2. a list with the names of all participants, teachers and accompanying persons.

 

Art.7

All material submitted will remain the legal property of GEF.

Art.8

The Organization undertakes to use the utmost care to preserve and protect all works submitted, but relinquishes any liability for theft, loss, fire, acts of vandalism and other accidental or deliberate acts which may occur during the event, or other promotions organized by the artists during EDUC-ARTE, during transportation and until returned to their owner.

 

Art.9

All material sent will be evaluated by a panel of Judges including representatives from the International Institute of Humanitarian Law, art critics and well known personalities in cultural and school settings. They will choose the winners and their decision will be final.

 

Art.10

Prizes will go to the winners in each category including the school selected as the absolute winner.  Based on the contents of the paintings submitted the panel may decide against selecting a winning entry in one or more sections, select two or more winners in one section and/or award other prizes.

The panel’s decisions are final.

The winners of the sections will receive “the Trophy GEF” and each finalist school will receive a GEF’s participation certificate.

All winners will receive their prizes at Teatro Ariston in Sanremo during one of the final performances of  GEF. A winner not attending the event cannot claim for their prizes later on.

All finalist schools will have their name printed in the official bilingual program (Italian/English) of GEF.

 

Art.11

All entrants and each school taking part in the competition finals in Sanremo will undertake to pay for its own board and lodgings.  For reasons of organization and event management, finalists, accompanying adults and/or anyone spending nights in Sanremo while taking part in GEF 2019, will need to stay at least two nights and book through GEF choosing accommodation from our price list in order to gain accreditation and be able to take part in the competition finals. (minimo three nights for schools participating in Theatre or Musical).

Each school admitted to the finals will be sent a booking-form by the booking organization outlining modes of payment.

Considering the thousands of bookings processed during the previous edition of GEF, early bookings are highly recommended.

All official participants in GEF’s final stages will receive GEF’s gadgets.

 

Art.12

A final performance will take place on Saturday evening May 4, 2019, at Teatro Ariston, with performances and a GEF award presentation to the assigned winners of the music, dance and fashion competitions. Also other competition winners will receive their awards. During the evening the winner of the prestigious prize “Global Education Award” will also receive their award, which is the only international education prize awarded each year to persons and associations who through their thoughts, words and actions, have fostered the growth and development of education.

 

Art. 13

GEF reserves the right to record and/or film and/or broadcast the event in its entirety or in part, using any medium (print, photography, radio, television, audio-visual, internet, etc.) and to accompany the event with one or more promotion or publicity, without owing any payments to anyone including all participants.

GEF ask to receive the privacy forms filled in and signed. (see art.14)

 

Art. 14

Every school and association have to send  Consent forms according to UE regulations n.679/2016 (GDPR) General Data Protection Regulation.

 

Art.15

Any changes to the competition finals in Sanremo, which might occur due to technical or administrative reasons will be notified forthwith.

 

Art. 16

All works received will remain the property of GEF and will be published or used in other shows at GEF’s discretion.  No money will be owed to any participant.

 

Art. 17

All printed matter and logos are protected by copyright; therefore any unauthorized use is forbidden. Anyone trying to use any of them without authorization will be duly prosecuted.

 

Art 18

GEF’s Organizing Committee, the promoting association and the company providing technical support will not accept any liability for personal or material injuries or accidents occurring while travelling or during the Festival.

 

Art. 19

Anyone taking part in the event is expected to have read and understood the conditions set by these regulations and to accept them unconditionally. Participation to the event also implies that each participant explicitly agrees to allow GEF to access its archives and process all personal data provided, according to UE regulations n.679/2016 (GDPR) General Data Protection Regulation.
