TV PROGRAMME
Both National and International TVs are expected to broadcast several reports of GEF.

“PINK DOLPHIN”
The school entering the greatest number of different competitions/festivals within GEF 2010 will receive the GEF’s “Pink Dolphin”. The highest number of points scored from all the competitions, divided by number of competitions will be used to establish the winner between schools with an even number of entries. The panel’s
decisions are final.

PARADE
On Thursday the 22nd of April 2010 in the afternoon all the finalist schools in all competitions are invited to parade through the streets of Sanremo. Each group will be carrying a placard or a banner bearing the school’s name, their geographic area and their nation. Each school must notify us if they wish to take part in the arade,
as requested in the registration form. They should possibly arrive in Sanremo by Wednesday April 21 or at the
latest Thursday morning April 22.
For event management reasons or due to bad weather conditions GEF’s Committee may decide to cancel the parade. Their only obligation will be to notify the schools.
Parts of the parade will be shown in the official GEF 2010 DVD.

“STUDENTS’ WHITE NIGHT”
The Committee of GEF has created a “Students’ White Night” on Friday 23 April 2010. At the end of the Dance and the Fashion finals the “Students’ White Night” will start. All finalist schools will perform in the open-air of the town in a great public celebration with all the local schools. The festivities will go on until 3 a.m.

FINALS
While in Sanremo all finalist schools, will be entitled to watch the final performances of Eurotheatre, participate in gatherings with famous people invited by GEF and watch the final performances of dance, fashion and music. Official participants will have free entry. All those accompanying the participants are expected to pay.
All seats must be booked and will be available till sold out

International Theatre-in-Schools Festival

Conditions of Entry


Art. 1
This Festival will take place in Sanremo during the final stages of GEF 2010 (April 21 – 25), and it intends to  encourage audience awareness of the relationship between Drama/Theatre and School through schoolproduced theatre performances.
The festival will focus on the following activities:
·  Working with theatre in schools
·  Seeing other schools perform
·  Discussing school-theatre
All finalist schools present in Sanremo will take part in a theatre workshop at no charge.

Art.2

Legally registered Schools, both private and state, may enter the competition and will be subdivided into the following categories:
A- Primary Schools
B- Lower Secondary Schools
C- Upper Secondary Schools
D- Special Category: “Experimental Theatre in language" (Italian schools performing French or English works and non-Italian schools performing Italian, French or English works).
Performances prepared by students and teachers, possibly with the assistance of external contributors, may be chosen freely from:
·  Classical Theatre (original or adapted),
·  Contemporary Theatre (original or adapted)
·  Children’s Theatre -preschool and primary school - (original or adapted).

Art.3
Each school may submit only one theatre production.
Schools intending to enter must send, by the 15th of February 2010, the enclosed entry form to:
GEF – Eurotheatre 2010” –– Via Roma 166 – 18038 Sanremo - Italy.
The postmark will be used as proof of date.

Art.4
Each work (unless excluded from competition) must be accompanied by:
·  A copy of the receipt, as proof of payment of the registration fee of € 150,00 net.
·  An outline of the intended performance (two copies), with an indication of its origin (classical text, either original or adapted) and a few short written director’s comments outlining the research process undertaken in the development of the work submitted, as well as some of its most outstanding features.
·  The actual text (two copies) and any other documentary material (even in working progress).
·  A list of the theatre group members (actors, directors, organisers) with their full name, date of birth and, possibly a photograph of the whole group. All actors must be current students at the school.

Art. 5
All material submitted will remain the legal property of GEF, may be used by GEF and will not be returned.

Art.6
Each performance may not last more than 50 minutes. Each school must provide its own mobile props and they must be easy to assemble, keeping in mind that, before and after the performance, there will be 30 minutes for any preparation and dismantling.
Rehearsals will not be possible. Each Institute taking part in the event must provide its own scenes, costumes and anything else, which may be needed for the performance.

Art.7
The schools admitted to the competition finals will be contacted by March 10, 2010 with performance dates.
The schools must confirm in writing, by fax and send a letter by registered mail by March 17, 2010, enclosing:
A) Technical specifications.
B) SIAE details (copyrights).
C) SIAE authorization-where needed by the works used.
All participating schools using works, which are not subject to SIAE copyright, will notify the organizing committee in writing.
D) A copy of the receipt as proof of payment of € 200,00 net as entry fee for the competition finals.

Each school admitted to the competition finals in Sanremo must participate in the activities outlined in art. 1, and must do so for at least three (3) days including a minimum stay of three (3) nights.

Art. 8
In order to confirm their participation, the schools admitted to the competition finals, must enclose, as stated in Art. 7 a copy of the receipt as proof of payment of € 200,00 being the entry fee for the competition finals (the schools must pay Bank charges). Payment includes SIAE and participation in the gatherings/workshops.
The registration fee of € 150,00 net and the entry fee for schools admitted to the finals of € 200,00 net must be deposited at: (choose one)

Funds raised from all entry fees will be donated to charity, after costs and taxes have been deducted. The
donations will be presented to relevant charities during the closing ceremony on Sunday morning April 25,
2010.

Art. 9
All entrants and each school taking part in the competition finals in Sanremo will undertake to pay for their own board and lodgings. For reasons of organization and event management, entrants and accompanying adults coming from a distance above 150 km from Sanremo, or anyone spending nights in Sanremo while taking part in GEF 2010, will need to book through GEF choosing accommodation from the enclosed price list and packages in order to gain accreditation and be able to take part in the competition finals. Each  articipating school will be sent a form by the booking organization outlining modes of payment.
Considering the thousands of bookings processed during GEF’s final stages, both from Italian and foreign schools, early bookings are highly recommended.
All official participants in GEF’s final stages will receive GEF’s gadgets.

Art.10
THE PANEL AND THE AWARDS
The panel of judges - a panel of experts invited by GEF will select the finalist works.
The panel will consist of experts from Theatre and Schools.
The Committee and Panel’s decisions are final.
Works will be judged on the basis of their contents and on their possible utilization in schools, rather than for their spectacular presentation.
One school will be selected out of each category (see art. 2).
All the winning schools in each category and the best non-Italian school will receive a “Targa GEF” and a finalist certificate.
The prestigious “School Creativity Award” (Silver Dolphin) for a performance will be awarded among the winners of categories A-B-C-D on account of the particular values represented.
The panel can decide to award other prizes and the panel’s decisions are final.
All prizes will be awarded to the school.
The names of all finalist schools will appear on the official bilingual programme (Italian/English) of GEF 2010

Art.11
“STUDENTS PRIZE”
This prize will be awarded to the best work by a judging panel of students, selected by GEF’s committee.
The panel of judges will be different for each competition.
The panel’s decision are final.

Art.12
There will be a final performance on Sunday morning April 25, at the settled venue, with performances and a GEF 2010 award presentation to the assigned winners of the music, dance, school bands and fashion competitions. Other prizes awarded will be the prize “Global Education Awards” (in its twelfth year). This is the only international education prize awarded each year to persons and associations who through their thoughts, words and actions, have fostered the growth and development of education.

Art.13
GEF reserves the right to record and/or film and/or broadcast the event in its entirety or in part, using any medium (print, photography, radio, television, audio-visual etc.) and to accompany the event with one or more
promotion or publicity, without owing any payments to any participants.

Art.14
The finals in Sanremo may undergo some changes due to technical-organizational reasons, however these will be communicated forthwith to the interested parties.

Art.15
All works received will remain the property of GEF and will be published or used in other shows at GEF’s discretion. No money will be owed to any participant.

Art.16
All printed matter and logos are protected by copyright; therefore any unauthorised use is forbidden. Anyone trying to use any of them without authorization will be duly prosecuted.

Art 17
GEF’s Organizing Committee, the promoting association and the company providing technical support will not
accept any liability for personal or material injuries or accidents occurring while travelling or during the Festival.

Art.18
Anyone taking part in the event is expected to have read and understood the conditions set by these regulations and to accept them unconditionally. Participation to the event also implies that each participant explicitly agrees to allow GEF to access its archives and process all personal data provided, according to the Act D.L. n. 196 del 30/6/2003, and admits knowledge of his/her rights as set of the above mentioned Act of Parliament.
