TV PROGRAMME
Both National and International TVs are expected to broadcast several reports of GEF.

“PINK DOLPHIN”
The school entering the greatest number of different competitions/festivals within GEF 2010 will receive the
GEF’s “Pink Dolphin”. The highest number of points scored from all the competitions, divided by number of competitions will be used to establish the winner between schools with an even number of entries. The anel’s decisions are final.

PARADE
On Thursday the 22 of April 2010 in the afternoon all the finalist schools in all competitions are invited to parade through the streets of Sanremo. Each group will be carrying a placard or a banner bearing the school’s name, their geographic area and their nation. Each school must notify us if they wish to take part in the parade, as requested in the registration form. They should possibly arrive in Sanremo by Wednesday April 21 or at the latest Thursday morning April 22.
For event management reasons or due to bad weather conditions GEF’s Committee may decide to cancel the
parade. Their only obligation will be to notify the schools. Parts of the parade will be shown in the official GEF 2010 DVD.

“STUDENTS’ WHITE NIGHT”
The Committee of GEF has created a “Students’ White Night” on Friday 23 April 2010. At the end of the Dance and the Fashion finals the “Students’ White Night” will start. All finalist schools will perform in the open-air of the town in a great public celebration with all the local schools. The festivities will go on until 3 a.m.

FINALS
While in Sanremo all finalist schools, will be entitled to watch the final performances of Eurotheatre, participate in gatherings with famous people invited by GEF and watch the final performances of dance, fashion and music. Official participants will have free entry. All those accompanying the participants are expected to pay. All seats must be booked and will be available till sold out.

Conditions of Entry


GEF – Talent Scout
During the performance by finalist schools, the members of GEF’s selection panel for dance and ballet will be observing the performing students to see if they have the skills and techniques required for possible admission to Dance-Companies, as for example in “PROBALLET SANREMO” Company’s training sessions or possible admission in the stage for professionals. The selection panel’s decisions are final.

Art.1
The Festival, which will take place in Sanremo during the competition finals of the twelfth year of GEF - The World Festival of Creativity in Schools April 21 - 25, 2010, will showcase quality productions from the Italian and European worlds of youth dance.
Schools short-listed for the competition finals will perform on stage at the settled venue for the finals. All the schools participating in the competition finals will be able to take part, free of charge in a workshop. The workshop coordinators will be maestro Marcello Algeri and Sabrina Rinaldi principal dancers of "Proballet Sanremo” and “Connecticut Ballet” (USA)

Art.2
Participation to the Festival is open to dance and ballet schools, public/private schools, associations, clubs etc.
both from Italy and other countries. The Festival is divided in three categories:

FIRST CATEGORY: divided in section A,B,C.
Category for Dance and Ballet Schools.
·  A - Classical ballet
·  B - Modern/contemporary dance
·  C - Other types of dance (character, ethnic, etc.).

SECOND CATEGORY: section D.
·  D – SPORT DANCE couple dancing in:
(minimum 5 couples / maximum 15 couples)
International dances:
·  Standard: English Waltz, Tango, Wiener-Waltz, Slow Foxtrot, Quick Step
·  Jive Jazz: Acrobatic Rock'n Roll, Boogie Woogie, Swing, Mix.Blues, Lindy Hop
·  Hustle: Disco Fox/Disco Swing
·  America - Latino: Samba, Cha Cha Cha, Rumba, Paso Doble
·  Caribbean: Mambo, Merengue, Bachata, Rueda Argentine: Tango, Waltz, Milonga
National dances:
·  Ballroom dancing: Slow Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot
·  Consolidated dances: Mazurka, Waltz, Polka
Regional dances:
·  Piemontese: Mazurka, Waltz, Polka
·  Folk-Dance Romagnole: Mazurka, Waltz, Polka

THIRD CATEGORY: divided in section E,F. special category (not for dance/ballet schools)
In this category the participants can enter with any kind/type of dance.
·  E - Public and registered private schools (primary, lower secondary and upper secondary), both from
Italy and other countries, can enter the competition with one or more works.
·  F - Cultural associations of youth (not a dance school that must enter in the first category), religious or other types of youth clubs, both from Italy and other countries, can enter the competition with one or more works. The age of the participants must be 5 – 19 years.

Art.3
Entrants must be between the ages of 5 and 19 years. No individual performances will be allowed. A dance
group must include at least 8 and not more than 30 dancers. All the students must be enrolled at the participating school. The same students can’t participate also in the festival of music and/or the festival of school musicals.

Art.4
Each Ballet/Dance School (or public/private school or association) may enter a maximum of 5 productions for
selection.
A production must not last more than 4 minutes.
A Ballet/Dance school submitting more productions can enter them in the same section or in different sections AB-C-D.
The Selection Panel may decide to choose one or more productions for each participating school. Participants in section E and F can only enter in these sections.

Art.5
Forward the attached registration form to: “GEF – International Festival of Dance for Schools ”, Via Roma 166 - 18038 Sanremo - Italy - by the 15th of February 2010.: The postmark will be used as proof of date.
Documentation must include the following:
·  A description of the intended performance (or part of a larger show)
·  An indication of the Category and section selected
·  A video of the performance (even if in working progress)
·  An indication of selected music for SIAE (copyright fees)
·  A list of group members (dancers, choreographer, organizers) including full name, gender, date of birth and where possible, a photo of the entire group. All dancers must be current students of the participating school.
·  A copy of the receipt as proof of payment of the entry fee of € 130,00 net for each performance submitted.

Art.6
All material received will remain the property of GEF, to be used in its own discretion and will not be returned.

Art.7
The schools admitted to the competition finals will be contacted by March 10, 2010 with performance dates.
The schools must confirm in writing, sending both a fax and a certified postal letter, by March 17, 2010, enclosing:
A) SIAE (specify which kind of music are used, for copyright reasons)
B) Specification for SIAE when music is without copyright fee. Schools admitted to the competition finals
whose work/s are not subject to SIAE copyright payments, must state so in writing by sending a letter of
authorization to the organizing committee
C) All technical details.

Art.8
The competition finals will take place in Sanremo on Thursday night, April 22 or/and Friday night, April 23, 2010. The backdrop for all performances of finalist dance schools will be the same. Each school admitted to the finals will provide its own costumes and any other props needed.

Art.9
Upon confirmation of their participation, according to art.7, the schools admitted to the competition finals, must enclose a copy of the receipt as proof of payment of the fee of € 230,00 net for each performance entered in the competition finals.
Payments of € 130,00 net for registration per each production and € 230,00 net for entry fee in finals (inclusive of copyrights) for each finalist performance, must be made (please choose one) to :

Funds raised from all entry fees will be donated to charity, after costs and taxes have been deducted. The
donations will be presented to the relevant charities during the closing ceremony at settled venue in Sanremo, on Sunday April 25, 2010.

Art.10
All entrants taking part in the competition finals in Sanremo will undertake to pay for their own board and
lodgings. For reasons of organization and event management, entrants and accompanying adults coming from a distance above 150 Km from Sanremo, or anyone spending nights in Sanremo while taking part in GEF 2010, will need to book through GEF and stay for at least two nights choosing accommodation from the enclosed price list and packages in order to gain accreditation and be able to take part in the competition finals.
Each participating school will be sent a form by the booking organization including modes of payment.
Considering the thousands of finals participants coming from Italy and from abroad, early bookings are highly
recommended. All finals participants will receive GEF’s gadgets.

Art.11
THE PANEL OF JUDGES AND THE AWARDS
The panel will consist of dance experts, and school and GEF representatives. Experts invited by the organizing committee will select the works for the finals. The winning school in each section A-B-C-D-E-F (see art. 2) will receive a “GEF Trophy”. The prestigious “School Creativity Award” (Silver Dolphin) will go to one of the winners in the sections (A-B-C-DE- F), in recognition of a particular value expressed by their work or by some aspects thereof. The panel of judges can award other special prizes (best project, best interpretation etc.)
The Committee’s selection and Panel’s decisions on the awards are final.
Every participating school will receive a GEF certificate of participation.
The names of all finalist schools will appear on the official bilingual programme (Italian/English) of GEF 2010.

Art.12
“QUALITY AWARD”
The chairperson of the panel, Maestro Marcello Algeri, will be offering the winning schools in the A-B sections, as “QUALITY AWARD” the following:
·  Direct access to the semifinals
·  Free registration
If they wish to participate in the choreographic section of the “PREMIO INTERNAZIONALE DANZA GIOVANI – CITTÀ DI SANREMO” (International Dance Prize for Young People), of which he is the artistic director. This event will take place on the stage of “Teatro Ariston di Sanremo” in the first week of July 2010. A GALA will take place with performances by the winning schools, award giving and guests. Travel and accommodation expenses will be the responsibility of participants, based on the official prices made available to participants.

Art. 13
“STUDENTS PRIZE”
This prize will be awarded to the best work by a judging panel of students, designated by GEF’s organizing
committee.
The panel of judges will be different for each competition.
The panel’s decision are final.

Art. 14
There will be a final performance on Sunday morning April 25, at the settled venue, with performances and a GEF 2010 award presentation to the assigned winners of the music, dance, school bands and fashion competitions. Other prizes awarded will be the prize “Global Education Awards” (in its twelfth year). This is the only international education prize awarded each year to persons and associations who through their thoughts, words and actions, have fostered the growth and development of education.

Art. 15
GEF reserves the right to record and/or film and/or broadcast the event in its entirety or in part, using any medium (print, photography, radio, television, audio-visual etc.) and to accompany the event with one or more promotion or publicity, without owing any payments to anyone including all participants.

Art. 16
The competition finals in Sanremo may undergo some changes due to technical or organizational factors, however these will be communicated forthwith to all interested parties.

Art. 17
All works received will remain the property of GEF. GEF reserves the right to publish or used them in other shows without owing any payments to anyone including all participants.

Art. 18
All printed matter and trademarks are protected by copyright; therefore any use or reproduction by any medium is prohibited. Anyone using all or part of it without express permission will be prosecuted.

Art. 19
GEF’s Organizing Committee, the promoting association and the company providing technical support will not accept any liability for personal or material injuries or accidents occurring while travelling or during the Festival.

Art. 20
Anyone taking part in the event is expected to have read and understood the conditions set by these regulations and to accept them unconditionally. Participation to the event also implies that each participant explicitly agrees to allow GEF to access its archives and process all personal data provided, according to the Act D.L. n. 196 del 30/6/2003, and admits knowledge of his/her rights as set of the above mentioned Act of Parliament.
