Regulations

Art. 1
The “Da Vinci’s Secrets” competition is included in the project by the same name and is organized in conjunction with the Regional Ligurian Education Office. The project’s name was chosen with an eye for romance, intrigue and adventure, imagining that Leonardo da Vinci could have engineered any of the inventions we will receive from schools, though they were never released.

Art 2
The purpose of the competition is to stimulate, with the assistance and supervision of teachers, the students’ creative and human abilities (which sometimes are not showing), thus helping progress and the in-depth development of human personalities.

Art 3
The competition consists of presenting a project by the school or pertaining to the school, an innovative idea, inventing a new product or further developing (through modifications and transformations) existing objects or projects, with no holds barred to creativity and imagination.
In order to participate, schools will have to propose entirely projects (or studies), can be also from previous years, in any area: Science, Technology, Chemistry, Agricultural Studies, Botany, Flower Growing, Ethology, Anthropology, Art, Music, Dance/ Ballet, Cinema, Literature, Design, and any other expression of creativity and ingenuity.

Art 4
Only schools can take part in the “Da Vinci’s Secret” competition as a unit under the coordination of a teacher, hence called “referring” teacher. Schools can be state public or Registered Private Schools and from any Country. They will be divided into three sections as follows:

B – Lower Secondary Schools
C – Upper Secondary Schools

Art 5
The project’s (or study’s) text can be written in Italian or English. Additional materials can accompany the descriptive text (drawings, photos, cds, videos, a miniature model etc.). During the final stages of GEF’s twelfth year in Sanremo (21–25 April 2010), the finalist schools will be offered a space (free of charge) in the exhibition area, which will be open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Schools will be able to display their designs/inventions/projects as well as other school projects. While participating in this competition, the schools showcasing in the exhibition area will be entitled to compete in GEF – “School Expo” – My school on display – A competition among schools to create the best school display area.
